The System
Zoran Zelenovic and Matski Aertsovic met each other for the first time in 2001. Both busy with the cultural history of the Balkan and sharing a passion for music, The System came to existence.
In the beginning The System was mainly Zoran (vox) and Matski (Matski), incidentally supported by Slavko (Bass).
The first recording session resulted in a 6 song cd called Not Owned By The Music Industry.It opens with a smashing speech of Matski (2 minutes long), were he criticized the complete western music industry at the moment. Than the cd rolls non-stop (no ID’s) as a bulldozer out of the speakers. Industrial orientated music on Balkan beats with oriental bass licks and a voice cutting your brain. The cd is not for sale, but available for free for whoever wants it. Copying, sampling….. all is allowed as long no commercial interest is involved.
In 2002 The System toured Europe with the USA band Consolidated in countries as Poland, Germany, The Netherlands, Austria……….

In my opinion a great cd and one of the better releases on Limbabwe.

Coming back from tour Zoran and Matski reconsidered the direction of the band. In 2003 Zoran reformed The System in a more “traditional” line up with 3 other musicians: Jan Pivk – Guitar, Jernej Kobal – Bass, Rok Kovacic (Fish) – Drums. The “electric” noise turned into a more “natural” sound.
Matski disappeared behind the scene, arranging, producing and organizing.
The new System arranged many new and old songs in a different, special, style registered on May 24, 2004 during a recording session. The cd’s Diesel Hajduks and Diesel Hajduks Alter Ego were the result. Both released on Limbabwe.
For the songs “Cobanica” and Ciganska Pesma” videos were filmed. You find these vid’s in the free Diesel Haijduks zip file.
in 2006 Zoran left The System.The band got dismantled. The second version of The System came to an end.
THE SYSTEM – DIESEL HAJDUKS (Limbabwe 44) 2004
This cd was recorded analogue on a Teac ½ inch 8-track recorder. released in a digipack. The cover folded open showed the former Yugoslavian flag. At this stage The System was a full band (drums/bas/guitar/vox). The music is a mix of Balkan and rock but different than what is known ‘Balkanrock’. Some songs from the first cd got re-recorded in a total different version. In the intro of ‘No Link’ you hear samples from the movies ‘Rane’ and ‘Ko To Tamo Peva’

THE SYSTEM – DIESEL HAJDUKS ALTER EGO (Limbabwe 45) 2006
This cd got released when The System was no longer a full band. These recordings are the outtakes of the Diesel Hajduks session. The cd was released in a soft cardboard cd sleeve. The intro tune used to be the old Yugoslavian national anthem. The cover drawing is an interpretation of an old Serbian symbol.

January 17, 2009 the original 2 members, Zoran and Matski reformed The System and worked on new recordings.
Spring 2009 Limbabwe released The System ‘The Wheel’. Limb 46. The new System release. A one hour cassette tape also available in free download from this site.
The recording contains contributions from Zoran, Jan and Matski.

This was the last The System release. The band broke up definitely after this. Here The System was mainly Zoran and Matski, Jan incidentally contributed. All 3 members perform their contributions individually. Track 11 is recorded fully digital. Track 10 is recorded anologue on a cassette. All other tracks are recorded analogue on a Teac 8-track.
